Users review: What do you think of this film? I am in complete loss to describe it. The very concept of the son is trying to reconcile with his dying father that he knows nothing, but a huge collection of incredible stories, does not sound very promising. It sounds like a tired old formula, and I did not expect this when it started rolling playingIts not.Werewolves, giants, witches, Siamese twins, bank robbers, hidden city, sirens, etc., are all present in the imagination, but they seems to be unremarkable part of life in the otherwise ordinary salesman. Or are they in fact or not is never made entirely clear, but it rub.I once read a review of Harlan Ellison, in which the main thing was how well said illuminates the truth lies in a much better clarity than a simple listing of facts can ever. At one point in the film, quests son remarks to his bedridden father, he's heard all his stories a thousand times, and he has know idea who his father really is. Parents will not be the answer, `Ive had no one but me from the day I was born. If you do not know who I am, that's your fault and not mine. More recent studies done so clear. Ill bet Allison loved this movie. This extraordinary lie.Did I like this movie? Sure. Tim Burtons his best work without a doubt. Is it for everyone? Probably not. Many will find it confusing and nonsensical, but such a good imagination. All I can say is sit back and let it happen. You will not regret it. |
